Unclaimed Overview
Unclaimed individuals that this office handles are those who died within Marshall County and do not have anyone at death willing to oversee their disposition in accordance with Alabama Code §34-13-11. The Marshall County Coroner's Office policy requires our office to hold these individuals for a minimum of 14 days after death to provide adequate time for anyone willing to accept the rights of disposition in reference to Alabama Code §34-13-11. Once a minimum of fourteen (14) days has passed since death, our office will authorize the cremation of the individual. After cremation their information will be listed as "Cremated Remains" on this page. Anyone may request to receive the cremated remains of these individuals by completing the form below and submitting to our office at cnugent@marshallco.org.

Individuals
These individuals have not been cremated yet and holding for the Coroner's authorization. To claim any of these individuals and accepted the rights of disposition you must contact the Marshall County Coroner Cody Nugent at (256) 568-8900. If no one accepts the rights of disposition this office will proceed after day 14 following the death. This time may be extended under certain circumstances, but it is under the discretion of the Coroner.
Cremated Remains
Cremated remains are those who have already been cremated by the Marshall County Coroner. To claim the cremated remains of any of these individuals please complete the form below and submit it to cnugent@marshallco.org.
